The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance (FWWA) and the Northeast Wisconsin Stormwater Consortium (NEWSC—a subsidiary of FWWA) work together to educate students about water quality and the impact that they have on our local waters. For the past three years, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance staff has reached over 1200 students a year through our School Outreach Program supported by NEWSC.  While our program targets 5th grade and high school science classrooms in NEWSC member school districts, Kelly Reyer, Outreach Coordinator provides presentations to any age group.

Kelly connects students with our water resources and reminds them of the value of our fresh water resources and our connection to the Great Lakes.  She talks with students about how water can become polluted when it travels over land and empowers kindergarten students through high school seniors with knowledge about simple actions they can take at home to have a positive impact on our local waters.  Kelly gives students a hands on experience using the Enviroscape model (shown in the image above) to show students stormwater runoff in action.

Our School Outreach program grows each year, in 2016, Kelly has presented in Green Bay, Kaukauna, Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac. Several school presentations are already scheduled for 2017.

If you are a school teacher interested in having a presentation for your class, please contact Kelly – kelly@fwwa.org
