The Winnebago Waterways Program encourages you to save the date for the 2019 Walk Across Lake Winnebago in light of the tragic boat accident that occurred on Winnebago this past August.

“This year, Walk Across Lake Winnebago will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Our goal is to raise funds for the City of Neenah Police Department K9 Unit and Neenah-Menasha-Water Rescue Team in remembrance of Cassandra Laabs, Lauren Laabs and their family dog, “Matey”. Cassandra, Lauren and Matey died in the result of a boat accident on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

We are teaming up with a great individual from Neenah, Taylor Olsen, to get funds raised for the equipment the Water Rescue Team needs. If you are interested in donating directly to the cause, you can do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/help-make-our-local-waters-safer

With your help and help from the community, we hope to make this year our best yet! Sponsorships from area businesses will be requested again this year. Let us know if you are interested. Letters will be going out soon!

Registration opens November 1st!”

Since 2010, the event has donated $50,000 to The Neenah Animal Shelter, $2930 to the Menasha K9 Unit and $17,535 to The Neenah Police Department K9 Unit.
