Winnebago Waterways Lake Management Plan – Opportunity for Public Review and Comment

Click the above image to view all LMP Drafts available for public review.

The goal of the lake management planning project is to develop a regional framework for cooperation to restore and protect the health of the Winnebago Lakes.

The Winnebago Waterways Lake Management Plan, when finalized, will be a dynamic, living document that will serve as a guide for strategic management of the lakes. The intent is to help focus coordinated efforts from multiple agencies, organizations, and individuals for effective and efficient lake management. The plan sets goals for lake improvements and opens the door for funding opportunities for improvement projects.

The goals and action items contained within the plan have been identified by conservation professionals and members of the public. The management recommendations are prioritized by stakeholders who participated in Focus Groups. All of the recommendations are then reviewed by the Steering and Executive Committees. The public is then given an opportunity to review the drafts and provide feedback before the plan is submitted to the WI DNR for approval.

Once the lake management plan is complete and approved by the WI DNR, the next step will be implementation of the recommendations and actions outlined within the planning documents.
