The Wisconsin Waterways Commission has 5 commissioners nominated by the governor and approved by the senate. The commissioners serve a 5-year term and each represent a specific geographic area and should be knowledgeable about the representative’s area’s recreational water use problems.
The commission makes funding decisions on recreational boating facilities projects and weed harvester acquisitions that will be funded with the Recreational Boating Facilities (RBF) grant program funding. The commission meets 3-4 times per year for funding projects plus 1 meeting may also include policy discussion/tour meeting. The meetings are held at different locations within Wisconsin depending on where project applications are received from. The commissioners’ mileage and meals are reimbursed. The liaison normally makes the hotel reservations so the payment for those are already taken care of. Currently meetings are done via Zoom.

If you are interested in applying, you will need a cover letter, resume and 3 references prepared that you will then attach to your online application. Here is the website where you can submit an application: https://30.selectsurvey.net/doa/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=92MK8o2K#. (Then click on “Next” and fill out the application! The WI Waterways Commission doesn’t seem to be listed under the “Click here” for more information, but this is the website to apply!)
