Winnebago Waterways Steering Team Seeks Members at Large for 2022

The Winnebago Waterways Program facilitates regional coordination and implementation of recovery efforts for the Winnebago Lakes and surrounding watersheds. Priority implementation projects are outlined in the Winnebago Waterways Lake Management Plan and the draft Healthy Land, Healthy Water: A Strategic Watershed Plan for the Winnebago Waterways.

PURPOSE: Members-at-large represent stakeholder interests as voting members on the Winnebago Waterways Steering Team. The Team also includes voting representatives from county land and water conservation departments and Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance as well as non-voting advisory members from the WI DNR. The Team works together to set the strategic direction for lake management and watershed implementation in the Winnebago Waterways Recovery Area. Members-at-large participate in this leadership structure as volunteers.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone interested in serving on the Team in 2022 is welcome to apply. Candidates should display leadership and interest in improving and protecting the overall health and well-being of the Winnebago Lakes.

All members of the Steering Team must be committed to working with diverse partners and possess the desire to maintain and enhance the waters and land surrounding the Winnebago System, now and for future generations. To effectively provide input and leadership, Steering Team members should be familiar with the waterways within the Winnebago System. Most communications and documents are shared electronically. Familiarity with and regular access to the internet is essential to be successful as a Steering Team member.

TIME COMMITMENT: Regular attendance at Steering Team meetings is expected of all members. The Team meets for three hours at least once per quarter. Additional meetings may be called as needed. There may also be voluntary ad hoc and subcommittee work as well as project related events. Regularly scheduled meetings are normally held during work hours on Fridays. To ensure safe, social distancing, meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic will be held online. Some special accommodations may be available.

TERM: This application period is for those interested in serving in 2022. The Member at Large position is a one-year appointment with the ability for Members at Large to serve a maximum of three (3) years consecutively.
