Our waters are worth protecting, but our waters are also in trouble. You may have noticed that in the summer our lakes turn green, and even start to smell. That’s because of the sediment and phosphorous in the water. When our waters are polluted, most people can’t enjoy their favorite activities. And that’s not good for the people who work, live, and play here.
- The good news is that we know what solutions help improve water quality.
- The bad news is that every year, we have to turn down projects and partners because we just don’t have enough resources to go around.
- The immediate news is that we have been selected to be part of Give Big Green Bay, a 24-hour giving event similar to Giving Tuesday.
From noon on Feb. 21 until noon on Feb. 22, your gifts to Fox-Wolf will have extra impact.
Dennis Buehler, president and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, explained that they underwrite program expenses to ensure 100% of contributions go “directly to the nonprofits serving our community.”
This means Fox-Wolf and other organizations benefit from shared promotional efforts and technological support. In addition, over $500,000 in matching funds from the Green Bay Packers Foundation and a pool of other community donors are available to Fox-Wolf and the other 44 organizations raising money on February 21.
Each group will receive a proportion of the matching funds based on how much of the overall Give Big dollars they bring in. For example, if a nonprofit raises 5% of funds that day, they receive 5% of the matching.
Every donation matters. If we have the most number of donors, regardless of how much money those donors give, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation will give us a $5,000 bonus donation.
So every donation matters. And every dollar will go further. Please consider making a gift to Fox-Wolf on February 21!
