We want to share something important with you. Our Climate Smart grant from the USDA—funding that helped us bring conservation practices to more farms, strengthen soil health, and protect water quality—has been terminated due to changing federal criteria.
Specifically, new USDA rules require that at least 65% of grant funds go directly to farmers. Our project missed this one requirement because the guidelines did not recognize our essential hands-on technical assistance as part of that 65%. We want to be clear: this termination was not related to any financial misuse, wasteful spending, or wrongdoing.
That doesn’t mean we failed, though. Quite the opposite.
With your support and with that funding, we:
Partnered with more than 30 farmers across the watershed,
Planted thousands of acres of cover crops,
Hosted workshops and field days for farmers and the public,
And sparked meaningful, measurable change for our soil and water.
We’re proud of what we accomplished. And while the contract ended, our mission hasn’t.
We need your help now more than ever to keep momentum going. Please consider donating today. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us keep clean water at the center of our communities, our farms, and our future.
