Winter Salt Week | January 26–30, 2026
Every winter, salt helps keep our roads and sidewalks safe. But when the snow melts, that salt doesn’t go away. It washes into our rivers, lakes, and groundwater, where it builds up year after year.
High salt levels damage infrastructure, stress fish and aquatic life, and can threaten drinking water supplies, especially in cold-weather regions like ours.
That’s why Fox-Wolf is joining partners across the country for Winter Salt Week, January 26–30. The week focuses on understanding salt pollution and sharing practical, proven ways communities can reduce salt use without sacrificing safety.
Throughout the week, experts in water science, public works, engineering, and policy will share what’s working right now, from smarter winter maintenance to community-level solutions already protecting freshwater.
Whether you plow, manage property, or just care about clean water where you live, there’s something here for you.
