Our Waters Are Worth Protecting
But our waters are in trouble. You may have noticed that in the summer our lakes turn green, and even start to smell. That’s because of the excess sediment and phosphorous in the water. When our waters are polluted, most people can’t enjoy their favorite activities. And that’s not good for the people who work, live, and play here.
Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance gives people and organizations the knowledge, practices, and financial support they need to join their neighbors in restoring our waterways. We work on very large projects, including installing breakwaters and runoff treatment systems, and on smaller efforts, helping homeowners with simple projects to impact stormwater quality. We monitor the water to ensure that our practices are effective, and we enlist citizen scientists who volunteer to help check their favorite places.
We’ve been working in the area for over 30 years, and we are a respected member of the conservation community. People turn to us for information, advice, and financial support. But when we run out of funding and staff time, we have to say no to even worthwhile programs and projects.
You may direct your gift in one of three ways:
- Undesignated giving will be applied to our greatest current needs, regardless of geographic location.
- Winnebago Waterways is focused on the area immediately surrounding Lakes Poygan, Winneconne, Butte des Morts, and Winnebago.
- Keepers of the Fox is focused on the lower Fox River, from the Fox Valley to the bay of Green Bay.
When you make a tribute gift, either in honor or in memory of someone, our staff will follow up with you. If you’d like, we are pleased to notify someone about your donation.
If you are interested in donating undesignated dollars to help us meet whatever needs are most pressing, we invite you to become a member! Members of the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance join a community of like-minded people, committed to protecting our waters.
