Use the right tool
for the job.

When it comes to soil health practices, using the right tool for the right job leads to better results. The thing is, farm equipment isn’t cheap. That’s why Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance is offering producers in the Fox-Wolf River Basin incentives to purchase select soil health farm equipment to aid in the adoption of soil health practices.

Purchasing farm equipment for a new practice is a big commitment and can be a hurdle; that’s why Fox-Wolf is here to help.

Program Overview

  • Incentive Rate: 50% of purchase price or $30,000 (whichever is less)

  • Farm Eligibility: Farm within the county boundaries of the Fox-Wolf Basin

  • Equipment Eligibility: Any new or used equipment that results in improved soil health and reduced nutrient & sediment loss will be considered

Equipment type must be new to farm and advance their soil health (ex. farm cannot purchase no-till drill if they currently own one, or a tillage implement that results higher disturbance than what they currently own).

Producer Application

Ready to apply? Be sure to review the Producer Eligibility and Program Requirements below. To apply, you will need the following information:

  • Equipment Purchase Condition: New, used, and customized equipment are eligible. If purchasing used equipment that is not in working condition, the cost of necessary parts and repairs may be included in the total purchase price and will count towards 50% reimbursement, up to the $30,000 cap. Equipment must be in working order before incentive payment.
  • Annual Meeting: Must commit to annual check-in meetings with county partners or Fox-Wolf to discuss outcomes, use of equipment, and if producer is meeting goals outlined in application for three years following purchase.

  • Ownership: Must maintain ownership of equipment for a minimum of three years. If equipment is sold before three years of ownership, incentive funds must go towards the purchase of equipment that serves same purpose.
  • Maintenance: Must perform routine maintenance of equipment.

New and Working Used Equipment: Incentive payment will be given following purchase. Proof of purchase will need to be sent to Fox-Wolf.

DIY and Non-Working Used Equipment: Incentive payment will be given when equipment is in working order.

Get an estimate from the dealership for the same exact piece (brand, model, size, age, etc.) if possible, or for a similar item. If the equipment sells before you are able to buy it with the program, the producer will need to work with Fox-Wolf and their County Rep to ensure that the purchased equipment meets or exceeds the intentions of the initial item.

The initial dealership estimated purchase price will be used to determine the max incentive rate available for the producer.

Send completed application with 1) Letter of Recommendation from County Land Conservation Department, and 2) estimate from dealership to Conservation@fwwa.org (preferred), or mail to Fox-Wolf at 526 W Wisconsin Ave, Suite 2E, Appleton, WI 54911
