The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance (FWWA) is pleased to announce that it has received funding through the WDNR Surface water grant program to finalize the Lake Management Planning efforts for the Winnebago System.  Four individual grants (one for each lake –  Lake Winnebago, Lake Poygan, Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winneconne) were awarded to finalize the Comprehensive Management Plan that is being advanced by the FWWA and numerous partners from around the system and funded by WDNR, Calumet County, Winnebago County and Fond du Lac County.

The final phase of this project will include an aquatic plant survey of all four lakes, continued meetings of technical teams to develop recommendations and draft language for the plan and an increased level of community engagement to finalize plan recommendations and build support for implementation of the plan.

The Lake Management Plan for Lake Winnebago, Lake Poygan, Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winneconne, is slated for completion by the end of 2019.

Effective and holistic lake management planning requires input from a variety of stakeholders including technical experts, area residents, property owners, lake users, and people that rely on Lake Winnebago for their drinking water supply. If you have not yet engaged in the process, we invite you to participate! Events, presentations, and meetings are being planned for 2018.
