Are you planning on sturgeon spearing this year? Do you have any questions or concerns about the sturgeon management program? The WDNR is hosting some great opportunities to ask questions or voice your concerns.
From the Wisconsin DNR:
Attention Winnebago System Fisheries Enthusiasts: This message is notification that the DNR will be hosting 3 public meetings in January to provide an update on the status of the Winnebago System lake sturgeon population, highlight results from recent assessments, and answer general questions about the sturgeon management program. The Department recently sent a survey to 2,000 randomly selected license holders to gauge spearer opinion about the use of large, “non-traditional” sturgeon spears and underwater cameras. Results from the survey will be presented at these meetings.
The meeting will include a question and answer session, so this is your opportunity to come voice your concerns and learn more about the sturgeon management program.
We hope to see you at one of the following meetings:
• Wednesday, January 23rd, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM, Horace Mann High School Auditorium, 325 McKinley St., North Fond du Lac 54937
• Tuesday, January 29th, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM, Engler Center for the Performing Arts, 530 W Main St., Chilton 53014
• Thursday, January 31st, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM, Menasha High School Auditorium, 420 7th St., Menasha 54952.
