Winnebago Waterways Clean Boats, Clean Waters Team Helps DNR Protect Our Lakes

During waterfowl hunting opening weekend (Sept. 28th and 29th), the Winnebago Waterways Program teamed up with WI Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to conduct a Group Check across the Winnebago System. As hunters, anglers, and recreational boaters enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend, the DNR worked to make sure that everyone was following the law. The Winnebago Waterways Program assisted in planning the Group Check and reporting any violations to Conservation Wardens who were patrolling in the area. Violations could include not cleaning vegetation off a boat/trailer before leaving a launch or hunting with a required license. The Clean Boats, Clean Waters Educators were stationed at strategic launches and worked hand-in-hand with DNR wardens. With such a large water system and dozens of boat landings, having extra sets of eyes reporting violations helped the DNR with protecting our natural resources.
