Winnebago System Lake Management Plan Nearing Completion, Needs Your Help

The Lake Management Plan is nearly completed but we still need your input! Add your voice and be part of the lake management process for your Winnebago Lakes!

A really easy way to get involved with the Lake Management Plan, and make your voice heard, is to join a focus group. Focus groups are groups of concerned members of the public and organizations (stakeholders) for each management topic covered in the Plan. We are currently recruiting members of the public to join our focus groups for two topics: Recreation and Watershed Management.

Focus groups meet for a single, two-hour meeting. That’s it. One and done. Joining one of these groups is an easy way to contribute to the betterment of your lake. You don’t need to be an expert. We are calling all boaters, anglers, lakeshore residents, and paddlers. Calling all sunset watchers, farmers, and duck hunters. Anyone concerned about Recreation or Watershed Management of the Winnebago System and wants to engage in its improvement would be perfect to join a focus group.

Focus Group Objectives:

  • Consist of 10-12 members of the public for each topic;
  • Help to ensure all relevant interests are adequately represented;
  • Help develop evaluation criteria for reviewing management options;
  • Provide input to help prioritize and select best management action recommendations.

Recreation Focus Group Meeting: Tuesday August 11th, 2020 from 6:30 to 8:30pm

Watershed Management Focus Group Meeting: Wednesday August 19th, 2020 from 6:30pm-8:30pm

Due to COVID-19, both the Recreation and Watershed Management Focus Group meetings will be held virtually.

If you are interested in signing up for either the Recreation or Watershed Management focus group, email or call Korin Doering, Winnebago Waterways Program Director at korin@fwwa.org or (920) 851-0948.

Spots are limited and filling up quickly! Don’t miss this opportunity to have your voice be heard directly about management recommendations in the Lake Management Plan! We really need your help to make this plan reach its fullest potential! More information about the lake management project can be found here: http://www.winnebagowaterways.org.
