The Clean Bay Backers hosted a State of the Bay virtual event on Tuesday, September 29th from 9-11 a.m.  The virtual press briefing opened with remarks from Congressman Mike Gallagher and Senator Tammy Baldwin.  This year’s event focused on water quality and public health.  The Clean Bay Backers invited legislators, elected officials, community leaders, and the press to spend the morning learning about how cleaning up our region’s biggest asset can boost our economy and improve quality of life for its residents. Key topics of the event included:
• Progress on restoring the health of the Fox River and bay of Green Bay
• What the end of the PCB clean-up means for the community
• Addressing the challenges of agricultural runoff
• Emerging issues including Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and plastic pollution

There was time for questions following each topic. A total of 94 attendees participated in the event. The Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance is a proud member of the Clean Bay Backers. Fox-Wolf’s Kelly Reyer spoke on the issue of plastic pollution in our waters as the final speaker for the event.
