FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WINNEBAGO COUNTY WI
03/01/2021

The Winnebago County Parks Department has made purchasing boat trailer parking permits for Winnebago County boat landings easier than ever with new online purchasing options. All annual, three-year, and three-county permits can be purchased online through the Winnebago County Parks Department website beginning March 1.

The Winnebago County Parks Department is using RecDesk, a cloud-based recreation management software, to offer this online option. Currently, only boat trailer parking permits are available online; however, in the near future, Park’s patrons will be able to rent a Community Park shelter, check facility availability online, complete forms electronically, and print out a receipt to use for proof of purchase onsite.

“Purchasing a boat trailer parking permit online gives our customers an easy and convenient way to get a permit from the comfort of their home,” said Vicky Redlin, Winnebago County Parks Department Acting Director. “It also helps limit person-to-person interactions as we battle through the current Covid-19 pandemic.”

Purchasing a boat trailer parking permit can be made online with a credit or debit card. A driver’s license number and vehicle license plate number are still required, as well as an address and telephone number. It is highly recommended to also list an email address as future messages will be sent regarding the permit program via email such as when a permit is about to expire.

Purchasing a boat trailer parking permit online only takes a few minutes following these simple steps:

  1. Visit the Winnebago County Parks Department homepage and select the boat trailer parking permit link near the top of the page. The site can also be accessed by going to winncoparks.recdesk.com
  2. Create an account. (If you already have an account, just sign in and go to step 3)
  3. Select the “Boat Trailer Permit” option.
  4. Select which permit you would like to purchase and then fill out the form.
  5. Make your purchase and we’ll mail your permit sticker to you in 5-7 business days.
  6. In the meantime, print out your receipt and place it on the driver’s side of your dashboard. Your receipt can be used as an active permit for a limited time until your official sticker arrives. Receipts used in this manner will have expiration dates printed on them.

Customers may call the Parks Department with questions regarding online purchases. Permit stickers are also available in-person at Festival Foods (Oshkosh location) and Fish Tales on County Rd. A. The Parks Department office is currently closed to the public.

“We understand that not all customers are comfortable with, or don’t have access to, purchasing permits online, which is why the permits can still be purchased in-person at our vendor locations as well as the County Clerk’s office,” said Redlin. “Revenue from permit sales is vital for the maintenance and future rejuvenation of the County’s boat landings as well as the navigation aids (buoys) placed in various areas throughout the Lake Winnebago System that is within Winnebago County, so the more purchasing options we give people, the better.”

The Boat Trailer Parking Fee Program enables Winnebago County to generate the sizeable funding needed to take on expensive repairs and ongoing improvement projects at the seven county-owned boat landings.
