In partnership with the larger restoration project, the Village of Wrightstown is constructing a trail to run along our project site! The trail will act as a walking trail in warmer months and a snowmobile trail in the winter. It will run between Highway D, where it will connect to a paved pedestrian trail, and the paved lot across from Mueller Park, connecting the downtown district and river with the schools and neighborhoods. The trail will run along Plum Creek and adjacent to the ARTS, giving walkers a close up look at the project sites. This trail will allow community members to access a site that was historically overgrown and inaccessible. By creating a space for community members to access their local waterways, it will build support for future work to continue the progress made to date in the Plum Creek watershed.
Three signs have been designed to be installed along the trail site to provide users with education on the restoration efforts along the trail as well as in the broader watershed. The largest sign, which will be placed at the trailhead, gives an overview of the work across the Plum Creek watershed as well as the challenges and solutions being adopted by farmers, communities, and counties. The two smaller signs will installed along the ARTS and Plum Creek and highlight the design and benefits of each practice.
