Celebrating 35 Years of Caring for Our Waters

In 1989, a group of dedicated community members began coming together around a shared belief: the rivers, lakes, and streams of the Fox–Wolf Watershed are essential to the wellbeing of our region. Not just for individual residents, but for our communities, local businesses, and the long-term health of the place we call home.

As those early conversations continued, one thing became clear. Protecting our water would take more than good intentions. It would require collaboration across sectors. From the very beginning, community members, area farmers, local businesses, and government partners at the city and county levels recognized that working together was the only way to safeguard water quality and the benefits it provides to the region.

Those conversations led to the incorporation of Waters of Green Bay Tomorrow in 1991. Today, that organization is known as the Fox–Wolf Watershed Alliance.

Now, as we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we’re taking time to reflect on how far we’ve come and the partnerships that have made this work possible. Over the years, we’ve worked alongside government agencies, volunteers, businesses, and residents to advance practical, science-based solutions that protect our rivers, lakes, and streams.

Throughout this anniversary year, we’ll be sharing stories from our journey, celebrating milestones, and highlighting the growing number of people who care about clean water in the Fox–Wolf Watershed. We look forward to bringing you along as we break ground on new projects, celebrate ribbon cuttings, and continue moving this work forward together.

This year is special, but the work is ongoing. Clean water is worth protecting for today and for future generations, consider supporting this work in whatever way feels right to you. Your support helps turn shared values into real, on-the-ground action.

Thank you for being part of our story, past, present, and future. Together, we remain committed to protecting the waters that sustain our region.
