Kids Learn about Aquatic Invasive Species at Kids Fishing Day

The Winnebago Waterways Aquatic Invasive Species Education Team was out in full force around the Winnebago System on July 13th. The annual Kids Fishing Day event brought thousands of people to their local Mills Fleet Farm store. The AIS Education Team set up aquatic invasive species booths with handouts on how to prevent invasive species, how to clean off gear to not spread AIS, as well as free bobbers! Over 200 people stopped and talked with the AIS Education Team in between learning about fishing at the event. In addition to invasive species, kids were able to learn about knot tying, fishing safety, fish identification, fishing line, life vests, casting practice, and much more! We hope that you talked with the AIS Education Team if you went to the Kids Fishing Day event!
