The Upper Fox-Wolf Demonstration Farm Network will soon have a new interseeding unit that will be used to plant cover crops in between the rows of corn and other row crops early in the growing season. The network has been working with Swiderski Equipment with funding through a grant from Fund For Lake Michigan to convert an Ag Systems nitrogen applicator to a 12-row custom interseeder.

The applicator will be outfitted with a Kuhn CCX 9000 seed box, 24 Dawn Equipment Duoseed row units, and custom Y-drops for the application of sidedress nitrogen. The new unit will be primarily used to apply cover crops in the early growth stages of corn at the V2-V5 stages. Other crops and time frames will be experimented with.

If you have an interest in attending a field day or seeing the new unit in action, please join the Upper Fox-Wolf text services to be notified of field days and other events. Text FoxWolfDemo (case sensitive) to 88202 or check out our Facebook and Twitter pages.
